Galeria River (Rua Francisco Otaviano 67, Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro) –– Galeria River’s story began with the advent of surfing activities in Rio. It can be found in the Arpoador neighborhood, which is where surfing originated in Brazil as a sport and as a way of life that dominates the carioca daily life. Throughout the years, the gallery has gained stores specialized in the sport and also in other activities, such as skating, trekking and fighting, for example.
Today, River – as it is called by the regulars – is undergoing a new moment of renovation, as there is an encouragement for business owners to open stores related to gastronomy to encourage young adults to go to restaurants after the beach during the evening, just like the iconic behavior that characterized the 70s and 80s. There are over 20 stores in the galleries, each with their different characteristics.
